This session will involve a panel discussion focusing on the assignee experience and ways this could be improved. We will examine:
- Is there a link between the assignee experience and the driver for the assignment?
- Assignment Policies: what works well, what doesn’t work well?
- How can the experience be improved whilst the costs are maintained or lowered?
- How significant is the role of third party service providers
- Real life perspective from an international assignee

Facilitator: Mardi Heinrich, KPMG - Partner, Global Mobility Services
Mardi leads KPMG Melbourne’s Global Mobility Services team. Mardi has over 16 years of experience advising employers in relation to cross-border tax matters which impact their globally mobile workforce. She also advises expatriate employees on the Australian tax implications of relocating into or out of Australia. She has had significant experience in overseeing some of KPMG’s largest global expatriate engagements and understands the importance of tax compliance in both home and host locations. Her experience in managing expatriate populations for clients has allowed her to develop a deep knowledge of tax and social security issues related to both short-term and long-tern assignments. Mardi also has extensive experience advising on Australian employer obligations, including PAYG withholding, fringe benefits tax and superannuation, particularly in relation to expatriates.
Mardi relocated from Sydney to Melbourne in 2016 and despite the fact that it is certainly a little cooler compared to Sydney’s northern beaches, Mardi has fully adapted to being a Melburnian.

- Belinda Dunn, Regional People Director APAC & Corporate, WorleyParsons
Belinda has worked for Worley Parsons for eleven years across a variety of People function leadership roles. Prior to her current role, Belinda went on assignment to Houston Texas where she was People Director – Americas. She had the opportunity to work across 6 different countries in the region, as well as experience the Super Bowl, a World Series win, snow, sleet and an almighty hurricane all in one year. Belinda has broad experiences having worked in diverse People Function roles within the banking, strategy and defense industries prior to WorleyParsons. Belinda holds a Master of Labour Law and Relations from the University of Sydney and a Bachelor of Business from the University of Newcastle. New to Melbourne she is enjoying Victoria with her husband and 3 young daughters.
- Meera Srinivasan, International Mobility Lead, Treasury Wine Estates
Meera is a global mobility practitioner with over 10 years’ experience in both an industry and consulting capacity. Meera is currently the International Mobility Lead at Treasury Wine Estates and is accountable for the company’s mobility policies and agenda. Prior to this, Meera worked at Rio Tinto where she most recently managed relocations for the Group’s senior executive population. She also was part of the GM policy, strategy and governance team . Meera began her career in tax consulting at PwC and later at EY. She has experience in expatriate tax consulting, GM consulting and implementing assignment technology.
- Nicole Woodcock, KPMG - Senior Manager, Global Mobility Services
Nicole has over 7 years’ experience supporting KPMG’s clients in the global mobility and expatriate tax space.
Nicole has undertaken a number of international assignments herself during her career, both short-term and long-term assignments. Most recently, Nicole was on a long-term assignment in Mongolia.
Nicole has managed the delivery of expatriate tax services to some of KPMG’s largest expatriate tax and immigration clients, which has exposed her to a multitude of global mobility issues both in Australia and in Mongolia, allowing her to develop deep knowledge of our client’s business needs and mobility policies required to support them.
