Sydney Chapter Meeting on the 1st November was titled “Transformation of the Global Mobility Function" and hosted by KPMG 

With much discussion recently around transformation of business functions in response to changing external factors,  the Sydney FEM committee thought a discussion on  global mobility and transformation would be timely.

The overarching topic of the discussion was ‘Does mobility need to transform or not ?

Amanda Beazley from Accenture,  Andrew Pringle from Bayer, Claire Springthorpe from Capgemini and Karen Mathieson from Worley Parsons took part in the panel discussion.

The panel discussed the future role of mobility in their different organisations; as well as views on having offshore teams and other models for operation. As technology is evolving, organisations are considering onshoring again and focusing on business process automation (BPA). For each organisation, there were different catalysts for change / transformation depending on the maturity of the global mobility programs in place, size of expat population, technology in use and the involvement of senior management. Business Travellers were again raised as a major area of concern by all participants due to the increased scrutiny by governments throughout our region. For most organisations, Business Travellers do not “sit within any particular area” but there seems to be increasing pressure / interest for this group to be part of the global mobility function.
