Shanghai Chapter: An Introduction

An introduction to the FEM Shanghai Chapter

The Shanghai Chapter has been active since early 2013 and now is led by Sterling Relocation, the premier provider of Global Mobility solutions. It was launched through an inaugural event of ‘Challenges for the Mobility & Relocations Industry’ in Shanghai and since then has progressively gained the support of Human Resources and Global Mobility professionals from different industries mirroring the varied and international nature of the city.

The Shanghai Chapter holds quarterly events on topics relevant to professionals who manage the expatriate population in their corporation and aims at creating an environment suitable for the exchange of experiences and practices. Experts from different fields are invited to talk about updates in taxation, immigration, compensation and benefits policies in front of audiences composed of both HR professionals and experts from the relocation industry.

The last event held in Shanghai was a workshop about the design and renewing of companies’ Global Mobility policy. The attendees had the opportunity to listen to the experience of their peers who gave insights on the topic, supported with case studies from their careers as Global Mobility and C&B Manager in different multinational companies. A vibrant exchange of those who apply their company’s policy daily was created and the participants appreciated the chance to share their experience and the difficulties they can encounter to apply it.

Two more events are in the pipeline for this year with the first one to be held at the beginning of September to explore the role of HR in relation to the development of a global mindset in today’s working environment.

All the details about each event are released a few weeks earlier and those who are interested in knowing more about the Shanghai Chapter and the upcoming events are welcome to contact Cecilia Cinquina.
