Starting early September, the Department of Jobs, Enterprise & Innovation (DJEI) will roll out their new Employment Permits Online System (EPOS). The system will allow online completion of the employment permit application form, uploading of supporting documents and payment of government filing fees through a secure payment system.

The system is expected to streamline the entire application process and reduce the adjudication time.

The DJEI has requested that to the extent possible, employers refrain from submitting new employment permit applications during the month of August to free up resources to allow them to focus on the transition. Employers should also expect slightly longer than normal processing times for all applications filed during August.

Note that this online system will not affect Atypical Working Scheme (AWS) applications or Irish visa applications, which are handled by other government agencies. The change applies only to employment permit applications submitted to the DJEI.

What This Means for Employers and Foreign Nationals

Employment permit applicants should benefit from a streamlined online application process and reduced processing times. Applicants can contact their immigration professional closer to the implementation date for more information on the system.
