The Detroit FEM Chapter took a deep dive into the topic of 2017 tax updates with the event “Global Mobility Tax: What’s new for 2017.” With the inauguration of President Trump this year, tax reform is an inevitable change.
The discussion revolved around the tax reform, specifically relating to corporate and individual topics, as well as the impact that would occur on Mobility Programs. Updates on foreign countries were also given regarding new tax implementations for Canada, Hungary, India, Italy, Singapore, and the United Kingdom.
One of the primary topics of discussion was what to expect with the new Trump administration. Some of the potential changes that may occur are reducing the corporate tax to 20%, changing the current seven tax brackets to three, and repealing of the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT), among many others.
We would like to extend a special thanks to our speaker, Jennifer Stein, from Global Tax Network for offering her expert advice and opinions on this matter.
