The situation
Effective February 13, 2018, the minimum monthly salary for Blue Card holders has increased to 6,407.27 PLN, up six percent from last year.
A closer look
- Initial and renewal applications. Employers of foreign nationals seeking to obtain or renew Blue Cards on or after February 13, 2018 must increase the foreign national’s minimum salary to comply with the new rule.
- Pending applications. Employers of foreign nationals with pending or approved Blue Card applications as of February 13, 2018 are not impacted by the increase in minimum salary.
- Immigration applications that do not meet the minimum salary will be rejected.
Reminders on other requirements
- Benefits and allowances. As before, benefits and allowances may not be included. Additionally, holiday allowance cannot be included.
- Market salary rate. As before, salaries must also meet the market salary rate for the proposed position.
- Currency. As before, employers are required to guarantee the salary in PLN regardless of payroll location and/or exchange rate fluctuations.
