2018 is actually FEM’s 10th Anniversary, so I want to begin the FEM Americas Global Mobility Summit with a lively panel discussion, where we will ask: How will Global Mobility look in 2028? I want to hear from the audience and the panel as we reflect on the many changes in the decade since 2008, and look ahead to predict and identify some of the challenges and opportunities that the next 10 years will bring.
New features
The rest of our Agenda is comprised of roundtable and expert insight sessions, panel discussions and workshops, but this year I’m also very proud to introduce our Mobility Masterclasses to the Americas. We launched these at our EMEA Summit and recent Amsterdam Conference and they proved to be incredibly popular. Most will run in the Tracks so we can offer a broad range of topics and formats. All are presented by senior industry figures who are often previous EMMAs winners.
On Day two we'll have a special Mobility Masterclass run by Matt Burns, (the recipient of last year’s EMMA for his Outstanding Contribution to Global Mobility). Attendees will have the opportunity to work through a selection of real-life case studies on the theme of change management with Matt's expert guidance and I know it will be a fascinating session.
A taster of the topics
It's impossible to list everything here, but among many other topics we will explore:
- Benchmarking and evaluating reward
- Cultural agility and risk management in difficult locations
- Dealing with M&As
- Immigration changes
- Localization
- Mobility’s contribution to developing future leaders
- Putting technology and global mobility data to work
- Rethinking policy design
- ‘Stealth travelers’
- U.S. tax reform
A fresh look at the way we work
The way that we now do business and approach work has changed enormously and developments in technology have brought tremendous benefits for many, but is it now time to take a step back and re-evaluate our attitude to work and workers? We'll be doing just that in our closing session when we discuss Putting the 'human' back into Human Resources.
I look forward to hearing your views.
