How long have you been involved in the Global Mobility sector? 
About eight years now.

What changes have you seen in that time? 

Most of the changes have been in our external environments in which our businesses operate. Protectionist immigration and trade trends for example, they have kept us all on our toes. Within our teams I don’t think our goals have drastically changed, they are just more refined. 

There is still a big focus on talent mobility, diversity and delivering ROI. These topics aren’t new but they are all extremely difficult to get right.

What do you think are the three greatest challenges facing Global Mobility professionals in the Asia Pacific region today? 

1. Diversity in assignee populations. We still have a way to go in delivering non-traditional mobility programs which will support greater diversity. 

2. Preparing our programs, policies and practices to cope with the future of work and ensure our function remains relevant. 

3. Repatriation. We still aren’t getting this right, it needs a total re-think to ensure we retain our talent with valuable offshore experience.   

What are the key messages you hope delegates take away from your session? 

You are not alone! This is a big topic, I don’t think anyone has all the answers. Future-proofing global mobility is a huge task and something the industry needs to work through collectively.

Who would you recommend attend your session? 

Anyone who is grappling with the future of work in the context of global mobility. In my view, it’s something we all need to start taking some action around.

Which particular session are you most interested to attend? 

The panel discussion: Mobility’s Contribution to Developing Future Leaders just after lunch looks really exciting. We have yet to properly articulate Global Mobility’s role in this at Fonterra so hoping to get some tips!
