FEM Belgium Chapter Meeting 23/05/2019
"Through expat eyes: Understanding the experience of global assignees & setting them up for success"
A seasoned expat, Katia Vlachos used her 20+ years’ experience and her training as researcher and policy analyst to delve deep into the expat psyche. In her book “ A Great Move”, Katia covers all the crucial stages of an international relocation and gives practical steps to help make a successful expatriate assignment.
This session will explore the challenges employees -- and their partners and families -- face when going on international assignments. Often, they are not related to their performance on the job, but definitely affect it. Based on an understanding of the challenges, we will look at the kinds of support that will be most effective in ensuring a smooth transition for expat assignees and their families, in order to maximise the chances of a successful assignment.
