The Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) and the Human Resources Office (GRH) are merging May 28, 2016, according to a government announcement. The joint department will register job vacancies on its public web portal and process work permit applications, which were previously separate responsibilities.
It is expected that personnel increases in the merged department will result in increased efficiency in the work permit approval process.
The work permit application process is not expected to change, however this remains subject to change.
What This Means for Employers and Foreign Nationals
The work permit process is expected to become more efficient, which should benefit employers and foreign workers in Macau.
Fragomen will provide updates when they become available.
