Introduce yourself in 100 words

Aysegul Kayahan, managing director of Relocation Specialists in Queensland and Victoria has been in the global mobility industry since 1993. Lessons learnt from experiences as a migrant child to Australia, a university student in Turkey (her birth country) and as an expat in Hong Kong and Vanuatu led her towards to the relocation industry.  Building on her personal experiences to develop a holistic approach to the relocation and settlement process has been her life's work. Working with organisations to relocate their staff domestically and internationally engages and excites her, even after several decades. Helping people relocate and settle in a new location is both challenging and fulfilling.

Why did you decide to partner with FEM and Lead their Chapter meetings?

Aysegul sought out the global Forum for Expatriate Management community as a way to enhance her own network and learnings, feeling this was exactly the sort of organisation she wanted to be part of. In early 2012 opened the first chapters in Brisbane and Sydney, followed by Melbourne and Perth soon after. From February 2015 to January 2017, Aysegul was appointed to the role of global chair of Chapter Leads for the Forum for Expatriate Management which gave her an insight into how other chapters were run and was an opportunity to share some of her own learnings with peers who felt as passionate about the development of the community.  It truly is a peer to peer networking and learning community dedicated to global mobility professionals.

What can delegates expect from your Chapter meetings?

Networking with your peers, sharing learnings to improve the overall quality of what we do as global mobility professionals. It’s an industry that brings together immigration, tax, talent, human resources and relocation service providers to discuss challenges, share experiences and develop best practice for doing what we do.

What are some of the most important issues for global mobility professionals in your location?

 Optimising mobility policies, adapting talent strategies, closely monitoring global developments, keeping on top of immigration and tax changes, leverage technology solutions for efficient and secure remote collaboration
