Introduce yourself in 100 words.

I'm Maggie, a British expat living in Portugal for the past 7 years. With 6 years of experience in Global Mobility and Immigration, I'm passionate about building connections, sharing knowledge, and fostering strong relationships within my professional network. I believe in the power of collaboration and continuous learning to drive success.

Why did you decide to partner with FEM and Lead their Chapter meetings?

I decided to partner with FEM and lead their Chapter meetings because I see a unique opportunity to raise the profile of Spain and Portugal within the wider network. My goal is to foster greater collaboration, bring attention to the incredible talent and knowledge in the region, and create a space where diverse perspectives can thrive. By leading these meetings, I hope to not only build stronger professional connections but also showcase the value of our region on the global stage.

What can delegates expect from your Chapter meetings?

Delegates can expect highly focused content that is directly relevant to Spain and Portugal, covering key topics such as immigration, tax, relocation, and cultural insights. We will also feature expert panel members who bring deep knowledge and experience to these areas, ensuring valuable and practical takeaways. Additionally, the meetings offer excellent networking opportunities, allowing delegates to connect with professionals from across the region and beyond, fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing in a supportive environment. It’s all about creating a space where actionable insights and strong relationships can thrive.

What are some of the most important issues for global mobility professionals in your location?

For global mobility professionals in Spain and Portugal, some of the most pressing issues include recent changes to immigration and tax policies. These include the loss of the Golden Visa, the introduction of NHR 2.0 (Non-Habitual Resident program), and the rise of digital nomad visas. These shifts have a significant impact on talent attraction and relocation strategies.

Another key concern is the successful integration of incoming assignees. It’s essential to remember that while these countries offer attractive climates and a high quality of life, there's much more to consider—from cultural adaptation to navigating the local legal and tax landscape. Ensuring a smooth transition for assignees, both professionally and personally, is critical to long-term success.

Ask a question for FEM members to start the discussion/engagement on your Chapter Page that could also help you to prepare for your meetings.

Given the recent changes in immigration and tax policies across Spain and Portugal, how are you adapting your global mobility strategies to ensure smooth transitions for assignees? What challenges are you facing in integrating talent, and what resources or insights would you find most valuable for your teams?
