At FEM, we are so grateful to our brilliant EMMAs judges who devote their own time (often weekends and vacation time) to read and assess the submissions.

The EMMAs are the gold-standard awards for the Global Mobility industry and have been established for 14 years now, but every year and in every region, we are pleased to receive new submissions from organizations and individuals who have never entered before, and we are often asked about the judging process for the EMMAs so we thought it would be helpful to explain the key points:

• All EMMAs submissions are judged by an independent panel of experienced industry experts (non-commercial Heads, Directors and Senior Managers of Global Mobility from the big multinationals).
  
  
• We are very fortunate to have a strong contingent of very experienced and skilled  judges who kindly assess the EMMAs every year, but we make sure that we vary the categories that they receive each time. 
  
  
• We also add new judges (often previous EMMAs winners) to the list in every region, every year so that each entry is seen by fresh eyes.
  
  
• We organize the judges into groups and allocate between 4 and 8 judges to assess every entry – so each judge receives access to read between 2 and 4 categories depending on the number of entries in each.
  
  
• Each judge receives their unique login for the judging portal and all the judging is completed confidentially online – so none of the judges can see who else is assessing the category – or read any other judge’s scores or comments.
  
  
• Before we allocate categories, we carefully check for possible conflicts of interest, (we never allow judges to assess anything from their own companies – or known partners) but we also ask our judges to alert us to anything that might impair their ability to judge with impartiality such as service provider partnerships or relationships. When this happens, we reassign the judge to another category and fill their place with another suitable judge to maintain the balance.

Our judges read every entry carefully and mark the submission out of 10 against this set of criteria:

• Innovation
• Strategy
• Results
• Impact of the work 

• They also read, watch or test any supporting documents, videos or apps. and take these into consideration in their overall scores.
• Finally, we ask all our judges for a comment on every entry – this can prove crucial when there is a tied score.

All awards are decided solely by the judges except for Global Mobility Professional of the Year – which is now decided by votes from the Global Mobility community and the award for the Outstanding Contribution to Global Mobility which is in the gift of FEM.
