Managing Global Mobility in a Downturn

As COVID-19 related health concerns continue to restrict international travel movements, the economic impact from the pandemic is being felt both here in Australia, and globally.   GDP figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics show that it will now be impossible for Australia to escape a recession, our country's first in 29 years.   Many organisations are already looking for ways to reduce costs and restructure their operations to adapt to the new normal.

Mobility is not immune to these challenges.  Our current environment though is uncharted for many, given that international travel is so limited, and employees are working in new and flexible ways. Beyond the immediate, short term measures, it is important that organisations think strategically about the role mobility has in the longer term and the shape of their global workforce as we emerge from these times.

We hope you can join us for this virtual Sydney-Melbourne chapter event where we will explore the challenges that organisations are facing in this downturn, strategies to help manage these and the longer term impacts for mobility.

Ahead of the chapter event, we welcome your responses to the below questions (these will be inserted into the registration link):

  1. What is the number one mobility challenge keeping you busy right now?
  2. What impact has the COVID-19 pandemic had on your mobility program?
  3. How is global mobility being considered/involved in changing workforce planning strategies at your organisation?
  4. How has your opinion changed on how your mobility program and processes will evolve into the future?
  5. What would you like to hear and discuss in this session with a wider group of attendees from Sydney and Melbourne?
