Pandemic Related Impacts on the Moving Services Industry
Overview:
There is currently a shipping, supply chain and workforce crisis directly affecting every facet of international commerce. The impacts are far-reaching enough to touch the daily lives of consumers and businesses around the world.
Our interconnected global economy does not offer up simple solutions. While significant industry efforts are underway to highlight the issues and draw attention to them, the international moving industry and its customers struggle to be heard by government regulators. And though corporate relocation administrators and assignees may feel some of the impacts, few are aware of the challenges faced by the moving industry and how a perfect storm of events has coalesced into a full blown crisis causing service disruptions, unprecedented price increases and frustration for customers and industry professionals alike.
While the pandemic may have triggered many of these issues, indications are that the challenges will not fade quickly or ever return to normal. The panel will discuss the background and impacts of this current crisis and how we got here. We will explore how the crisis is impacting transferees and corporate move sponsors and how the challenges are causing moving services suppliers to adapt to a "New Normal."
