Back to the future: Are we on track? Making New Year’s resolutions…

Each organisation has different objectives for their mobility program into the future and as we embark on 2019, it can be difficult to anticipate what challenges and roadblocks might arise in the process. At the same time, understanding the return on investment and success you can achieve can be equally unclear (yet exciting!).

In this interactive workshop, we as a community shared our learnings from prior years and objectives for the coming year.

Each organisation has different objectives for their mobility program into the future, it can be difficult to anticipate what challenges and roadblocks might arise in the process. At the same time, understanding the return on investment and success you can achieve can be equally unclear.

Questions considered included:

•       Reduce the use of traditional expatriate assignments, in favour of shorter term or lower cost alternatives?

•       Implement a new technology platform?

•       Have compliance concerns, which need to be rapidly addressed?

•       Try to achieve a number of objectives, only to come across unexpected roadblocks?

•       Successfully transform your mobility program?

At least one of the above resonated with everyone in the room and for some, all did.

The following topics within the above context were also discussed at length. Business travellers, strengthening policy and business education, better understanding of the process flow & for all participants impacted in the business. Compliance and more compliance. Serious effort into better understanding technology options and whether or not the software platforms can meet the actual requirements of firms in this region. EY made use of Menti.com for the live responses from the room to the key questions under consideration. It made the discussion that much more interactive and the results were shared with participants.
