In this Chapter Meeting we will explore some of the first steps you will need to take on your journey towards business traveller compliance.

Topics for discussion include:

  • The necessity of observing the varying, complex and fast changing legislation governing income tax, social security and immigration issues around the world.
  • How to achieve buy-in from senior stakeholders and set out your implementation roadmap
  • Understanding your business and developing a programme that is the right fit
  • The importance of a trial period and the timing of the go-live of your programme
  • How to track and report your company's business travel and activities

Speakers:
Stephen Curtis, Director - Global Mobility Services at KPMG
Stephen is a Director in KPMG UK’s Global Mobility Technology practice and has worked in tax and technology for over 15 years. In that time he has advised many multi-national companies regarding the design and implementation of their international tax and HR processes and systems. Stephen has assisted a significant number of companies across all sectors with their business traveller compliance.

Ed Hobern, Senior Manager – Global Mobility Services at KPMG
Ed is a Senior Manager within KPMG’s Global Mobility practice and has worked in expatriate tax for over 10 years. He has advised a number of multi-national companies tackling the complications that business travellers can cause – whether they have only a handful of senior executives, or thousands of frequent travellers. Ed has assisted these companies from the very first stages of implementing their business traveller solution; from obtaining senior stakeholder buy-in, securing the necessary resource and designing appropriate polices and communications, through to managing a fully rolled out compliant process

Jessica Smart, Global Mobility Senior Consultant at FIS
Jessica Smart worked in the Sydney and London offices of SunGard before the purchase by FIS in late 2015. She is currently the Global Mobility Senior Consultant at FIS and over the past three years has been managing the Global Business Traveller Programme, which is focused on mitigating immigration and tax risks associated with international business travel. Her role has evolved from developing and implementing the Programme to 12,000 employees, to continual assessment of cases and programme enhancement. With FIS’s acquisition of SunGard, Jessica is in a unique position, having the opportunity (working with full Global Mobility Team) to consider the redevelopment and implementation of the Global Business Traveller Programme across all areas of the FIS business.
