Tax Audits: What is the focus of the tax authorities, tips and tricks to pass the test

Based on recent practice and audit requests on equity for foreign executives, PwC would tackle this subject and provide best practice and actions to consider to avoid issues when the tax authorities review expat files.

Additionally, we will explain another issue that is attracting a lot of attention from the tax authorities. They have confirmed that there is a strong focus on all foreign entities that do not have an establishment in Belgium but are registered with the KBO ("permanent establishment" risk). Organisations may be liable for extra taxes so this is a key issue for all global businesses.

Since joining the firm in 1999, Maud has specialized in international employment situations and her work consists of advising employees and their employer on the consequences of cross-border employment in the areas of Belgian and international income tax and social security law.   Maud is a Senior Manager in the Antwerp and Brussels office. She has more than 15 years of experience as tax advisor and specializes in global mobility services.  Her current clients notably include US, Swiss, French, Dutch and UK MNCs.

Since joining the firm in 1997, Philip has specialized in cross- border employment situations, HR tax and social security setup for inbound investors. Philip is a Partner in the Antwerp and Brussels office. He has more than 15 years of experience as tax advisor and specializes in international mobility services. He has advised many clients on Belgian and international tax and social security law. His current clients notably include US, Indian, Dutch and UK MNCs 

Bart Elias, Partner Employment Law at PwC
Bart is partner in PwC Belgium, leading the Belgian Employment Law Team consisting of 40 legal professionals. Bart combines a specialized knowledge in national and international employment law, social security and immigration.  He brings over 20 years of experience of having worked with a full range of large and medium sized companies in different industrial sectors which he assisted with advice on Belgian and international individual and collective labour law, social security law and executive reward as well as restructurings and M&A-work.
