The situation
The Irish authorities invite submissions on the Highly Skilled Occupations List and the Ineligible Categories of Employment List.
A closer look
As in April this year, the Irish authorities are now inviting comments on the Highly Skilled Eligible Occupations List and the Ineligible Categories of Employment List. The call for submissions in April 2017 did not result in any changes to the lists.
Background
The Highly Skilled Eligible Occupations List determines which occupations are eligible for the Critical Skills Employment Permit, an immigration route for local hires that exempts employers from labor market testing, among other advantages. The Ineligible Categories of Employment List determines which occupations are not accessible to non-EU/European Economic Area/Swiss nationals.
Submissions
Employers interested in making submissions can do so via an online form available here. The completed form should be emailed to fiona.odea@dbei.gov.ie and roisin.collins@dbei.gov.ie by October 27, 2017.
