The removal of a substantial number of occupations from the temporary and permanent employer sponsored visa schemes from April 2017 to the present and the threat of changes to occupation lists has led to uncertainty for employers. The Department has sought to plug the gaps in the scheme using an assortment of region or company specific mechanisms such as Designated Area Migration Agreements, Labour Agreements, and the Global Talent Scheme. We explore the suitability of these schemes and the application process.
