The Detroit FEM Chapter took a deep dive into the topic of “H-1B Preparation: Surviving a Year of Increased Scrutiny.”

Tracy Schauff, Senior Attorney at Fakhoury Global Immigration, presented on the latest strategies and practical solutions for the filing of H-1B petitions.   She also discussed the current trends seen today, such as an increase in denials, second Request for Evidence’s, and site visits.  There is also increased scrutiny given to entry-level positions, job duties, and cases with prior approvals.

The discussion was based on the keys to success in remaining proactive with providing detailed job descriptions, relating course work to job duties, and reviewing the applicant’s qualifications.  The future of immigration was also a topic for discussion on the potential changes and the impact that may incur, such as the revision of the H-1B random selection and recession of work authorization eligibility for H4 holders.

We would like to extend a special thanks to our speaker, Tracy Schauff, for offering her expert advice and opinions on the matter.
