A Tribute to Jennifer Manis
A fond farewell to an outstanding global mobility leader, generous mentor and friend
It is with great sadness that we mark the passing of Jennifer Manis of Houston, Texas. Jennifer was an inspirational leader and an outstanding mobility professional.
With senior posts at Robert Half International, BHP Billiton, Halliburton and Team Industrial Services until ill-health prompted retirement in May 2019, Jennifer was tremendously talented and widely esteemed throughout the global mobility industry.
I first met Jennifer in Houston in 2017 and was instantly charmed. Warm, funny, energetic and generous in spirit, in addition to all her professional accomplishments, Jennifer had some rare gifts and I admired and liked her enormously.
A delight to work with, Jennifer was always a must-have speaker at our Houston Conferences and Americas Summits. She was absolutely invaluable on a panel, and not only debated topics with authority and expertise, but was also really good at listening to her fellow speakers and was generous and unselfish in her approach.
Jennifer also delivered a number of dynamic solo sessions, and in Dallas in 2019, she and Berna Anderson ran the perfect Mobility Masterclass where Jennifer was clearly in her element, guiding delegates through a series of case studies, happily sharing her knowledge, and keeping everyone energised with her quick and ready wit.
An exemplary EMMAs judge too, true to character, Jennifer took the role very seriously, giving proper consideration and respect to every entry and putting her vast knowledge and experience to superb use.
Jennifer Manis had so many friends and admirers throughout the industry – not least of course at FEM. We presented her with a special award for Inspirational Leadership at the EMMAs in Dallas in 2019 and it was so richly deserved.
We send our condolences to her daughters and family, but give thanks for the privilege of having known Jennifer. We will miss her.
