As we all know, the first outbreak of the Covid-19 virus began in China at the end of 2019, and has quickly spread across almost every country of the globe. Sadly, to date, the USA has suffered a huge number of Coronavirus cases, and with business entities all over the world, our panelists are managing the effects of the crisis, not just within North America, LATAM and the Caribbean, but on a global scale.

Mark B. Fischer, MD, Medical Director Assistance, International SOS 
Based in International SOS' Assistance Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Dr. Fischer is responsible for providing medical assistance and coordination of medical care to patients traveling and living abroad. Since joining International SOS in 2012, Dr. Fischer has been the medical escalation point for oversight and case management, for over 2,000 clients worldwide.  Responsibilities in this role include aeromedical transportation, internal quality audits, medical facility audits, provider network management, medical team training, and implementation of digital transformation. He attended The Pennsylvania State University Honors Program, Temple University School of Medicine, and residency in Middletown, Connecticut.  

Angela Myers, Director, Global Mobility, BAE Systems, Inc.
Angela is responsible for leading a team whose mission is to support enterprise growth in emerging global markets, reduce risk, ensure compliance and manage the movement of people. Angela joined BAE Systems, Inc. in December 2011 as a Director of Human Resources and moved into her current role in April 2013. Previously, she was at Raytheon Company where she was the Human Resources Manager responsible for the Mid-Atlantic Region. Angela has over 30 years of experience working in Human Resources. Angela holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Business Administration from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. She also has SPHR, SHRM-CP and GMS certifications.

Patricia Tavares, Americas Global Mobility Head, Unilever
Patricia Tavares graduated in Federal university of Paraná in Brazil and has a major in Human Interrelationship and Developing Management Skills at FAE in Paraná, Brazil. With over 20 years of experience in Human Resources, having worked in HR Operations including: Benefits, payroll, employee contact center, HR BP and of course Global Mobility. Acting in the Financial Industry for over 15 years, being the last three years as an expat herself, in 2016 she moved to the Consumer Goods Business and is now the Global Mobility Head for the Americas based in São Paulo. Patricia is a valued member of the GADEX Group in Brazil, which is composed of 33 multinationals, and represents the GM community with government entities, (Federal Police, Immigration Department, DMV, etc) when necessary. She is also FEM’s highly successful Brazil Chapter Lead.

Simone van der Schalk, Director, Global Mobility ConocoPhillips
Simone van der Schalk is the Director of Global Mobility at ConocoPhillips. She has 20 years of global mobility experience, including 13 years on the tax side with KPMG and 7 years with ConocoPhillips. Her responsibilities within ConocoPhillips range from managing the global and domestic US, CA and UK relocation programs, as well as vendor management of the relocation, tax and immigration vendors. She is further responsible for overseeing the individual tax compliance for cross border employees. Her team is responsible for the entire suite of mobility policies and manages all requests for exceptions. Their focus this year is on redesigning some of the current processes to make the program more nimble, advance technology solutions and elevate the business and employee experience. Simone works closely with the HR business partners to better understand the need of the business. Simone has a law degree from the University of Leiden, NL, is an Enrolled Agent with the IRS and has completed her GPHR certification.
