For this second session of the Paris Chapter, we will focus on China with four global mobility experts offering practical and strategic advice.

Opportunities and challenges faced when sending expatriates to China
Speaker: Didier Hoff - UniMobility
China or the “Middle Kingdom” has enjoyed an extraordinary economic expansion during the last 30 years. We will present a global picture of the challenges facing China today and try to evaluate its positioning on the global stage notably in comparison to the USA.

Expatriation to China : A tax and legal headache
Speakers: Wai Lin NG and Hélène Delechapt - Taj
Discussion will include individual tax rules and its latest modifications followed by a presentation on social security rules and bilateral totalisation agreements signed by China. We will examine the main challenges in terms of immigration and then move on to two current aspects focused on by the Chinese authorities : PE and French VIE.

How to structure an efficient and attractive package taking into consideration the latest cost of living information
Speaker: Ghislain de Rengervé - Helma
We will look at the current cost of living situation in China, comparing Beijing with Shanghai and other cities. We will discuss the pollution impact and whether or not a specific allowance should be taken into consideration when calculating the compensation package.

Intercultural differences between Western Europe and Mainland China
Speaker: Stéphane Roche - Akteos
China operates according to a unique paradigm that stimulates itself to react very efficiently in today’s complex world with a flexible organisation while working within its strategic vision. What is this paradigm and can we be inspired by it?
